CHEMARTS is a joint minor program in collaboration with Aalto University’s School of Art, Design and Architecture (ARTS) and School of Chemical Engineering (CHEM).
The educational activities in CHEMARTS are developed on several levels. Introduction course ”Design Meets Biomaterials” (3-5 ECTS) is an optional course targeted for undergraduate students (BA, BSc). It gives an insight into the material itself and its contemporary applications through lectures, and familiarises students with design methods and approaches through hands-on teamwork.
The CHEMARTS summer school is targeted for graduate students (MA, MSc) and the content is varying each year. The aim is to inspire future professionals of design and material science to work together for novel cellulose-driven concepts and ideas. Summer school includes a creative workshop led by internationally acknowledged designers and the results will be exhibited publicly. The team consists of Aalto Master’s students and tutoring experts with different backgrounds.
